Astrid Garcia’s practice is influenced by psychoanalytic theory and its relationship to temporality, death and embodiment while centering sensation, movement, and interpersonal anxieties. Her work across drawing, painting, and sculpture depicts states of psychological turmoil and its recollection in the body. Astrid (b. 1995) studied political science and Spanish at San Francisco State University. She has been in group and solo exhibitions in New York and California, was a resident artist at The Macedonia Institute and recently began her MFA at the New York Studio School.
